Medical Humanities Conference in Sunderland Keynote

Honored to deliver a keynote on Creative Enquiry and Flourishing in Medical Education alongside medical student Elle Tallgren. This co-created presentation explored how creative approaches can foster wellbeing in medical school and combat burnout.

Elle shared her lived experience as a medical student, offering powerful insights into the role of creative enquiry in shaping Flourishing Spaces within medical education—also the focus of her dissertation.

During the session, we collaborated with 2nd-year medical students and academics to create a word cloud capturing perspectives on flourishing and resilience. This sparked a fascinating discussion on how these two themes coexist in medicine—highlighting the balance between endurance and growth in clinical training.

Our experience of sunrise over the beach set us up for a day of learning and creative collaboration

A heartfelt thank you to the University of Sunderland for the invitation and to all who contributed to this inspiring conversation!
